Minuit Sur Terre (vegan sandals from France)

Minuit Sur Terre (just search ‘sandals’ to bring up their summer footwear) is a super-stylish vegan footwear company from France. For every pair sold, 5 Euros are donated to a partner association to help animal welfare. The founder was a (stylish) woman (she’s French!) who could not find clothes of ethics to match quality and fashion she wanted.

Sold in many styles and colours, these sandals add a hint of French flair to any summer outfit. They are designed in France, and made ethically in Portugal.

Why Choose Vegan Sandals?

Leather is not a by-product of the meat industry (most leather goods are made in countries with poor animal welfare laws and the leather process is very polluting).

Nearly all shoes are made in Asia from leather (in countries with poor welfare laws for animals and humans – the tanning process is very polluting). Cheap vegan shoes are made from pleather (plastic leather) that are not good for the planet and make your feet sweat.

Instead, invest in a couple of pairs of quality vegan sandals made from Microfiber (wear on alternate days, to let them dry out). Wipe clean with a damp cloth.

As most quality vegan shoes are still sold online, visit the shoe shop  to get your feet measured (or measure your own feet). If you’re a half-size, it’s okay to order the bigger size (feet swell when running and you’ll likely be wearing socks). European brands don’t offer half sizes.
