A Simple Recipe for Vegan ‘Irish Cream’

Baileys remains one of the most popular liqueur drinks: a blend of whisky, chocolate and cream. This recipe for vegan Baileys (PlantYou) only needs a few ingredients. Sweetened with maple syrup, all you need is a good blender.
One suggestion online for a similar drink is to mix oat milk with Tia Maria (coffee liqueur).
This also makes a great topping for plant-based ice-cream, or make a ‘boozy mylkshake’ by blending with a scoop of vegan ice-cream and a handful of ice.
Why Is Oat Milk Baileys Only in the USA?

People who live in the USA can now find Baileys made with oat milk, in two flavours. This is apparently due to demand for dairy-free versions. Why it is not on sale in England is anyone’s guess, as we have just a strong dairy-free demand, yet they pulled the dairy-free version from supermarket shelves?
Meanwhile, there are a few good alternatives:
- Licor 43 Horchata Cream liqueur is a fusion of horchata (a Spanish/Mexican creamy drink) with tiger nuts, spice and citrus.
- Creamaura offers plant-based tequila cream liqueurs. Choose from caramel (coffee, vanilla) or Rose (with strawberry, nice for dessert cocktails).
