Veligoods is a unique deli in England’s greenest city. Partnering with Zedify, it offers a range of gourmet British-made vegan cheeses delivered to your door – by bicycle! You can also choose to pick up at the warehouse, if you prefer. Proper vegan cheeses are made with nuts (not coconut oil, like most shops offer – one reviewer said one supermarket brand tasted like ‘solidified vomit’). If you’ve never tried a proper vegan cheese before, you’re in for a treat! The company also sells seitan meats (like a ‘wheat meat’ that is one of the closest forms of faux meat there is, but obviously not suitable for people with gluten allergies). You can recycle any packaging at supermarket bag bins.
Keep these vegan cheeses and meats away from pets. They look, smell and taste the same, but may contain toxic ingredients like onion, garlic, mushrooms etc.
Order by Wednesday, to get your vegan cheese box by Friday! The company idea formed during the first pandemic lockdown. The founders were craving good cheese so much, that they started ordering in bulk from the suppliers, then others wanted to know where they were getting the food from! Knowing that Bristol has one of the highest percentage of vegans nationwide, it obviously became a super business idea. The company also can deliver by courier nationwide (though unfortunately that will be by van, not bike!) Local delivery is free for orders over £25. Nationwide delivery is £6.50 but that covers the cost, no profit is made by them.
Why bicycle? Because like most cities, Bristol (despite its green image) is polluted by too much traffic, which can affect health and climate change. So not only do you enjoy delicious vegan cheese to help the animals and climate, but having it delivered by bike means not having to drive to the shops to pick it up. All the staff at Zedify are paid a living wage to enjoy a healthy job, and be part of the city’s green transport revolution.
Once ordered, the cheeses last between 5 days to 8 weeks in the fridge, depending on which ones you buy. Most can also be frozen (not the vegan Bree!) Most are made from almonds and cashews, and most are gluten-free (drop them a line if you have allergies). You don’t have to be vegan to enjoy trying these out. In fact, anyone who is reducing their dairy intake, worried about cholesterol or has a lactose intolerance will like these too. Or simply if you like good cheese!
