a dog shampoo for sensitive skin

Filed Under: creatures Tagged With: pets

Awake organics natural dog shampoo

Awake Organics Natural Dog Shampoo is a creation by one of the nation’s best-loved natural beauty companies. In plastic-free packaging, this is free from artificial fragrance.

Experts suggest to use warm water around 37 °C. Pop a mat or solid tub in the bath/sink, to avoid wobbling (walk-in showers, paddling pools or outdoors may be easier for large breeds, securing dogs safely). Use a gentle stream of water beginning at hindquarters, and avoid getting water in a dog’s ears. Check for allergies before purchase, as some ingredients are packed on different premises.

Never use human shampoos on pets (skin PH is different). Avoid essential oils (cats and other creatures can’t break them down in their livers, so air rooms after using them, and avoid if pets sleep in bedrooms). Rinse paws after walks in snow, as rock salt can burn, when pets come inside to higher temperatures. EcoGrit recommends safer alternatives.

With good reviews by dog guardians, this water-activated powder shampoo is made with organic coconut milk and anti-inflammatory colloidal oatmeal (to relieve rashes, dry skin and itching). Unscented and biodegradable, it’s also not too overwhelming for a dog’s sensitive nose!

To use, brush long hair to detangle, then shake the bottle to loosen powder. Sprinkle a small amount of powder (around 50p size for average-sized dog) onto soaked coat and massage, to activate lather. Add a little more water if needed, be careful to avoid your dog’s eyes, nose, mouth and inside ears. Rinse well, towel-dry and enjoy fresh cuddles!

For those penned into cities with no view of the stars and no taste of clean air and nothing but grass between the cracks in the pavement to nourish their sense of the wild, this is no freedom at all. All the gadgets in the world cannot compensate for what we have lost.
