A Tub Soak (with zero waste bath salts)

fire and wolf botanical bath salts

Botanical Bath Salts in a Jar are made with natural essential oils, dried botanicals, Himalayan rock salt and Epsom salts, presented in glass jars. Choose from Sleep Easy (lavender & spearmint), Calming (patchouli & lime) or Cleansing (sandalwood, bergamot, marigold petals).

Avoid essential oils for pregnancy/nursing.  Don’t use Epsom Salts for open wounds, burns or skin infections. Talk to your doctor if you have medical issues, as although it can help for some conditions, it should be avoided for others (kidney/heart disease, pregnancy, children).

Sea salt can stimulate circulation and ease muscles, and Epsom Salts (named after a saline spring in Surrey) are recommended by doctors at Cleveland Clinic to ease migraine (the magnesium can help people intolerant to cold or chronic fatigue, and even correct minor deficiencies by soaking in a bath for 15 minutes (300g).

Many beauty companies offer Dead Sea Salts, the famed sea in Israel that is so thick with salt, you float on top. However, many companies now don’t sell it, as it is removing non-renewable minerals from a sea that is getting shallower each year. If this continues, the sea will literally die.

lavender vetiver bath mylk

Soapdaze Lavender Vetiver Bath Mylk is made with kaolin clay to gently cleanse skin, while soaking in the bath. The bath mylk includes organic coconut milk powder and Himalayan pink salt, scented with essential oils of lavender and vetiver which kind of smells like grass (avoid aromatherapy for pregnancy/nursing). The coconut has fatty acids to rehydrate skin, and the salt exfoliates. You can buy a mini version to try if wished.

Conventional bath salts are often made with dead sea salt (this sea is literally dying, so avoid them). Epsom salts are okay, as long as you don’t have diabetes. Choose bath salts that are either plain or scented with essential oils (not fragrance oils) to avoid causing algae bloom when they wash down sinks (this chokes oxygen out of the water, and harms marine wildilfe). Plastic-free packaging is also good!

lemon calendula bath salts

The Natural Spa Vegan Bath Soaks are made in Devon and sold in a biodegradable pouch.  Just sprinkle a handful of these natural bath crystals into running water and allow to dissolve. The cellulose pouch will compost in just 10 weeks and all stickers are printed with compost-safe vegan inks. Choose from:

Luxury Lavender Bath Salts are relaxing, and also full of minerals due to the coarse sea salt. These bath salts are ideal to ease aching muscles, and relieve stress as your body absorbs the magnesium.

Fizzing Vegan Bath Bombs

sweet orange and lavender bath bomb

This sweet orange & lavender bath bomb is sold in a recycled paper package with label. Fill your bath with these relaxing scents, as the plastic-free bath bomb offers a self-care treat. Lovingly made in Wales, it’s scattered with calendula petals. Bath bombs are fun to use. Made with baking soda, you simply drop them in the bath, and they fizzle and disperse the essential oils and other ingredients. Unlike greasy bath oils that can be slippery and difficult to clean, these are more like bath salts, and offer a simple zero waste way to have a nice soak in the tub.

We are the first generations surrounded by evidence, that our attempt to separate ourselves from nature has been a grim failure.

I wonder if every animal is a spirit. If they are all spirits sent to you? And how you treat them, is what you are.
