organic jojoba oil

This bottle of organic jojoba oil is sold in a beautiful zero waste aluminium bottle, sold by a small organic beauty brand in Wales. Jojoba oil is the oil closest to human sebum, and comes from a shrub in the New Mexico area of the USA (it became popular to replace whale blubber, which previously was used in cosmetics). Avoid for nut allergies. Keep away from young children & pets.

Jojoba oil has many uses, including helping to heal dry skin and you can also massage it into your hair, to help prevent dry split ends. It can also be used to help heal stretch marks and scars, due to being able to increase your body’s own production of collagen. Note that jojoba oil is technically a wax, so it’s thicker than most oils.

Dermatologists therefore suggest using it at night, it’s especially good as a cuticle oil for hangnails. You can also rub jojoba oil into your scalp and leave for a few minutes before shampooing, as a scalp treatment that can help to promote hair growth (won’t work for alopecia or male pattern baldness).

Quality zero waste beauty brands cost a little more, but work better so you need less. Good skincare starts on the inside (drink more water than wine, keep out of strong sun, eating well and sleeping more.  Choose brands made from plant-based biodegradable ingredients (no ‘parfum’ that is just a term to cloak artificial ingredients).

Also avoid collagen (usually made from cow bones) and be careful with hyaluronic acid (often from ‘rooster-combing’) and squalane (you can find plant-based versions, but most comes from endangered sharks).
