This art print of a long-eared owl (in a late night setting surrounded by honeysuckle, elder and oak) is designed to bring a little woodland wildlife to your walls. Sold unframed, the print is available as A4 or A3 size, by artist Claire Tuxworth.
Long-eared owls are shy birds that live in roosts of up to 20 birds, mostly eating voles. These mottled brown birds have big orange eyes and long ear tufts. Which aren’t actually ‘ears’ but feathers that they raise when alarmed, to make themselves look bigger.
How to Help Our Woodland Owls
- Support companies that make ‘tree’ products from recycled materials (notebooks, bathroom tissue, furniture etc).
- Leave no trace on woodland walks (take litter home with you). Never smoke cigarettes (nor drop butts) in woodlands. This can cause wildfires.
- Barn Owl Trust has info on nestboxes (how to buy, site and clean) as it’s important they don’t get waterlogged (owls sit on pellets rather than straw). You can’t disturb owls or owlets, unless a licensed wildlife worker.
- Learn more on how to help owls. This post has detailed information on helping injured owls, plus info for farmers and town planners (open troughs, rat poison, electricity pylons).
