This art print of three goldcrests (perched amongst blossoming blackthorn) is designed to bring a little woodland wildlife to your walls. Sold unframed, the print is available in A3 or A4 size, by artist Claire Tuxworth.
Goldcrests are Europe’s smallest birds, often found in England’s conifer woodlands and public parks. Some birds live here year-round, others migrate here in autumn, arriving on the east coast, often to be found near sand dunes. This tiny songbird can lay up to 12 eggs at one time.
It’s easy to recognise goldcrests, as they are olive green, with bright crowns (orange for males, yellow for females). Related firecrest birds are harder to spot, as they are rare (they have black eyestripes and white eyebrows).
How to Help Our Woodland Birds
- Support companies that make ‘tree’ products from recycled materials (notebooks, bathroom tissue, furniture etc).
- Campaign to save our forests, by using your vote.
- Leave no trace on woodland walks (take litter home with you).
- Never smoke cigarettes (nor drop butts) in woodlands. This can cause wildfires.
