Goldfinches are striking birds that are found in gardens, parks, woodlands and heathlands. They have long pointed tails that they use to extract seeds.
Bullfinches are plump little birds with large black caps and thick bills. Females are more grey-brown, rather than the bright pink-red colour of male birds.
How to Help Our Woodland Birds
- Support companies that make ‘tree’ products from recycled materials (notebooks, bathroom tissue, furniture etc).
- Campaign to save our forests, by using your vote.
- Leave no trace on woodland walks (take litter home with you).
- Never smoke cigarettes (nor drop butts) in woodlands. This can cause wildfires.
