A Bear Called Paddington is a beautiful gift edition of the original stories of Paddington Bear, unabridged and illustrated in glorious full colours. The Brown family first met him on Paddington station in London. ‘A bear? On Paddington station? Don’t be silly, Henry. There can’t be!’ Since then, their lives have never been quite the same, for ordinary things become quite extraordinary, when a bear called Paddington is involved.
Rekindle your friendship with the kind and wise bear, who always keeps marmalade sandwiches under his hat, in case of emergencies.
about the author
Michael Bond created the bear by accident, when inspired by a toy bear that he found in his house. Far from the accusations that the stories had undertones due to the bear being ‘from darkest Peru’, in fact his family had taken in refugees during the Second World War, at a time when it likely would have made them unpopular with some locals. Paddington Bear was the original illegal immigrant!
