Cadbury’s Dairy Milk is arguably the favourite chocolate bar of many, either plain or with dried fruit/nut. Years ago, Cadbury was locally owned, but has of course now been sold to a big multi-national company. The simplest alternative here is just to make your own vegan mylk chocolate. Try this Vegan Milk Chocolate (Addicted to Dates) for a ‘snappy bar’ made with real cacao butter. The new plant bars by Cadbury are also now on sale in stores.
All chocolate is toxic to pets (white chocolate also has too much fat). Keep these recipes away from pets, due to toxic ingredients like chocolate, nuts and dried fruit. Never use xylitol to sweeten foods near pets, as just a few dropped crumbs could be lethal.
As well as most being made with factory-farmed animal ingredients, palm oil and refined sugar – chocolate bar wrappers are one of the main sources of litter, and they cause ugliness or get eaten by pets and wildlife, and others fall down storm drains and go into the sea, where they never biodegrade, and end up in the stomachs of whales, dolphins and sea turtles. Most of the big brand chocolate bars (which sell in their millions each week) are also made with factory-farmed milk, palm oil, refined sugar and other not-good ingredients.
