Discover the Essex Coast (all 350 miles of it!)

Frinton Ladies, Barbara Peirson
The Essex coast is the second-longest in England, with marshes, estuaries and pebble bleaches, alongside classic seaside resorts (some a little run-down, but with much potential).
If at the coast, read our post on keeping dogs safe by the seaside.
- Frinton-on-Sea is a quiet haven, with wide sandy beach and elegant promenade. Along with Victorian beach huts and tree-lined avenues.
- Just up the coast, Walton-on-the-Naze features red-brick Naze Tower stands tall above the cliffs, offering sweeping sea views. Migratory birds flock to nearby marshes.
- Southend-on-Sea comes alive with its seven miles of shoreline. The world’s longest pleasure pier, stretching into the Thames estuary, is its most famous landmark.
- Clacton-on-Sea has a Victorian pier, sandy beaches and holiday parks. Of course, these days it’s more known for being the parliamentary constituency of Nigel Farage MP.
Green leader Zack Polanski (when he visited Clacton) said residents were surprised to learn that Reform UK policy is for zero hour contracts (taking back people on worse pay and conditions), one saying ‘I thought Nigel was supposed to be a ‘man of the people’.
Some say Reform UK is a ‘party of millionaires funded by billionaires, pretending to speak for the common working class man’.
Reform UK’s new ‘religious’ advisor James Orr has been described by one academic colleague as ‘more Tommy Robinson than St Thomas Aquinas’.
