Homemade Cucumber Sandwiches (proper English!)

Do you remember when these used to be a thing? Homemade Cucumber Sandwiches (Full of Plants) are simple to make, in this case made more tasty with vegan cream cheese and mayo, fresh herbs and salt/pepper to season. An ideal picnic treat – don’t cut the crusts off, they make your hair curl!
If you are going to remove the crusts, then to avoid food waste – use in a vegan bread and butter pudding.
Did you know that cucumbers can cure bad breath? Just place a slice on your tongue for 90 seconds. The phytochemicals can stimulate saliva (to avoid a dry mouth) and release anti-bacterial materials, to kill off halitosis!
Whatever kind of sandwich you make, start with good bread and vegan butter without palm oil. Store in a silicone food box or reusable lunch box.
Read up on food safety for people and pets (to avoid choking hazard foods for children and toxic foods). Don’t feed leftovers to garden birds or wildfowl (due to salt, crusty/stale bread and fat, which smears on feathers, affecting waterproofing and insulation).
It’s best to just bin allium scraps (onion, garlic, leeks, shallots, chives) as like tomato/citrus/rhubarb scraps, acids could harm compost creatures.
