Make Your Own Fresh Fruit Slushies

Filed Under: Feeling Good Tagged With: drinks, recipes

strawberry slushie

Slushies are very refreshing on a hot day. But you don’t want to be buying those ‘slush puppy’ drinks from machines, as they contain lots of chemicals (note: raspberries are not blue!) Here are some nice homemade recipes to try. They are similar to ‘shaved ice’ drinks which were created in Southern Italy, when locals would mix fruit with snow from the mountains, to cool down in summer.

Easy Strawberry Slushies (Addicted to Dates) feature a homemade vegan meringue topping. They are made with real strawberries and kombucha (a kind of fermented sparkling tea).

Strawberry Basil Slushie (Silk) is made with frozen berries and fresh basil, made creamy with plant milk, and sweetened with agave. Contains lime juice and optional protein powder.

I am going to listen to the wind and see what it tells me, or see if it tells me anything at all. I will follow the songlines and see what they sing to me. And I might bring a harvest of fresh tales, which I can scatter like apple seeds across this tired and angry land.
