Kit + Kin laundry liquid

Kit + Kin Laundry Liquid is one of the better brands of nontoxic laundry liquids on the market. Nothing is 100% pure (you need detergent to clean your clothes). But there is an awful lot of ‘greenwash’ (pretending to be green when they aren’t) amid laundry brands.

Choose unscented laundry brands for pregnancy/nursing, babies and pet bedding (citrus is toxic to pets). This is an unscented brand anyway. Laundry synthetic fibres (including cloth nappies which have waterproof backings) in a microplastic catcher.

This unscented laundry liquid is accredited by Allergy UK to be gentle on delicate skin, yet still can lift stains at low temperatures (note that baby clothing and people with low immunity, it’s best to wash at 60 degrees anyway). You can also use this liquid to wash by hand or use undiluted as a pre-wash stain remover on carpets, upholstery and sofas (test on an inconspicuous area first).

At end of use, just return your pouches to replace with new ones to refill your bottle. And the old pouches go off to be recycled into other things. This also saves you money, as you wait until you collect pouches, then get them collected or posted for free.

When laundering clothes, check labels and wash non-fast coloured and whites separately. For stubborn stains, use oxygen bleach (harmless to aquatics, unlike chlorine bleach).

So What’s with the Baby Spice Link?

Kit + Kin founders

This product is from a cloth nappy company, co-founded by Emma Bunton, who used to be known as Baby Spice (she’s now in her late 40s, but still looks around 20 years younger). Perhaps it is because she has a kind heart. She’s used her good fortune, to make the world a better place.

Not only do her products create a lower carbon footprint, they are affordable for everyone, and profits are also used to help protect rainforests worldwide. Like many ‘green companies’, she and the co-founder both wanted to create a better world for children, the next generation.

Note if you are buying any other cleaning products, again only choose unscented near babies and pets (citrus for example is toxic to them).
