Green People is one of England’s better skincare companies, with nearly everything organic and sold in easy-to-recycle sugar-cane tubes. This brand was founded by a mother to heal her daughter’s sensitive skin and now has been around for over 25 years. The products are a bit more expensive than supermarket brands but are concentrated (so last longer) and not ‘silly designer prices!’ Oy! Foaming Face Wash is for oily skin & teens (with tea tree, willow bark and witch hazel).

Use scent-free range for pregnancy/nursing (also avoid hibiscus) and affected medical conditions (grapefruit oil etc). Avoid shea butter for latex allergies. Keep items away from young children and pets (due to citrus essential oils & zinc oxide in deodorants/suncare).

Natural zero waste beauty products cost a little more but work better, so you can gradually reduce the number of items used. They also contain plant-based biodegradable ingredients free from ‘parfum’ (artificial fragrance), collagen (cow bones) and plastic packaging. Some brands of beauty care contain animal-based hyaluronic acid (from roosters) and squalane (from endangered sharks).
