Kentucky Fried Chicken is the world’s second largest fast food chain, with over 22,000 restaurants worldwide. Founded by Colonel Sanders, it has criticism from environmental and animal welfare campaigners\ It did give up palm oil, and its secret blind of herbs and spices is apparently locked in a safe. It adapts meat to suit its customers (so sells Halal chicken in Islamic countries, and spicy chicken in Asia). Try this Vegan Fried Popcorn Tofu (Cupful of Kale).
If you love fried chicken, get an air-fryer (safer than fat fryers). Don’t feed vegan meat alternatives to pets, as they contain pet-toxic ingredients like soy, garlic, onion, mushrooms, jackfruit.
KFC website says that it’s proud that all its chicken is cage-free. But a report in July 2020 found that a third of its chickens had footpad dermatitis that caused pain on walking, before they were slaughtered. 10% of chickens suffer hock burn (caused by ammonia from waste of other birds) and around 400 per flock of 10,000 birds die before they are killed (due to disease, lameness or injury).

should we support vegan KFC meals?
KFC branches now offer Beyond Fried Chicken in a green bucket. The jury’s out on whether people should support plant-based foods from fast food restaurants that make money from meat. But billions order KFC and it’s not likely to stop soon, so at least tell others about it, even if you don’t buy yourself. KFC fries are cooked in the same oil as popcorn chicken (and their vegan chicken contains titanium dioxide (a food additive not safe near pets).
