Pretty Jewellery (made from recycled plastic)

Filed Under: Looking Good Tagged With: jewellery

eco beach recycled plastic earrings

Instead of buying jewellery from companies that mine the earth and harm native wildlife, why not treat yourself to jewellery made from recycled plastic? Clothing made from recycled plastic is problematic (because microplastics break off in the washing machine). But jewellery is not washed, so is an ideal way to use up this waste product that never biodegrades. Like these Pink recycled sea glass earrings.

eco beach blue earrings

These pretty blue and green earrings are made from sea-worn plastic, from a Cornish artisan. Was it a surf board or a bucket and spade? Nobody knows!

recycled plastic pendants

These recycled plastic pendants are sure to make a statement in bright blue and green. Each pair is unique due to recycled materials used, and sent wrapped in recycled tissue paper.

Opals Treasures offers lots of pretty earrings made from colourful recycled plastic. From starfish to jellyfish and shells, take a look to find your favourites! Depending on items chosen, wear old milk bottle caps, shampoo bottles or orange Lucozade caps!

Recycled Plastic Jewellery (from the Welsh coast)

Bronwen Gwillim recycled plastic jewellery

Bronwen Gwillim is a super-talented designer who makes beautiful jewellery, made from plastic waste collected from the beautiful beaches on Wales’ Pembrokeshire coast. These unique items are a wonderful way to support someone who is helping to clear the seas of harmful plastic, which harms our marine wildlife friends.

The plastic is cut, shaped and formed by hand, then combined with industrial waste plastic, recycled silver and resins (which Bronwen recycles into her own plastic dust!) By using hand tools and reclaimed materials, little is thrown away.

Plastic on the beach may start off without a soul. But once weather-worn characters are given a  makeover, they are beautiful with shapes and textures inspired by the sea, and walks by the shoreline. Sent in sustainable packaging with a personal message and business card to pass onto your friends. Most items are sent First Class (with slight delays, as the Post Office only visits two days a week!)

The range includes bangles, brooches, earrings and necklaces. Many items are unique (earrings may be odd sizes, and some use discarded bottle lids that have been picked up off the coast).

I am going to listen to the wind and see what it tells me, or see if it tells me anything at all. I will follow the songlines and see what they sing to me. And I might bring a harvest of fresh tales, which I can scatter like apple seeds across this tired and angry land.
