At England, Naturally we are passionate about creativity and community. And there’s nothing worse than being told by the powers-that-be what to listen to, on radio playlists. Some songs may be okay, but you have to go foraging to find the good stuff!
So occasionally, we offer up a video (we can’t do this too many times, as it takes up too much website bandwidth). But in the spirit of sharing good music to all, here’s Sam Ryder.
This lovely-looking man (he says all he does is use shampoo!) hails from Essex, where he used to run a vegan seaside shop with his girlfriend. But they both loved surfing so much, they kept leaving the premises, and never made any money!
Thankfully, Sam sings like an angel, and after working like a carpenter (with the hair, some have said he has a lot in common with Jesus!), he was discovered when he entered Eurovision (and almost won, unheard of for the UK these days). He was working as a wedding singer beforehand, but has now kind of hit the big time.
Sam Ryder’s favourite inspiration is Brian May, who combines his love of music with helping wildlife (he’s been trying to stop the badger cull for years).
The most amazing thing is that Sam’s voice is self-taught!
