Duwax (waxed cotton shower curtains)

If you are currently using a plastic shower curtain and are considering a replacement, DUWAX offers a sustainable alternative. Made from waxed cotton and made in Germany, DUWAX is entirely free from ‘forever chemicals’ that are known to harm the environment.
DUWAX is not only good for the earth, but more comfortable in daily use. Unlike plastic shower curtains, DUWAX does not cling to the body when stepping out of the shower. Even during use, it hangs stable and is not blown in the shower.
DUWAX is designed as a water-protection curtain. Because water does not penetrate the fabric, the curtain does not require machine washing. In fact, it should not be washed in a washing machine at all.
Over time, the curtain develops a distinctive and attractive patina, giving each DUWAX an individual character – something plastic curtains cannot offer.
After use, the curtain should simply be left to hang freely so it can dry. DUWAX is particularly well suited for floor-level walk-in showers.
While the waxed cotton surface is water-repellent, soaps and oils from shampoos or shower gels should be rinsed off thoroughly, as residues may affect the patina over time.
The shower curtain can also be custom-made on request, due to different measurements in thet UK. Otherwise, you can cut it to the required length with scissors or have it adjusted by a local tailor.
How to Clean Your Shower Curtain
Cleaning is straightforward and environmentally friendly. Most damage to shower curtains is caused by limescale deposits rather than dirt. Instead of laundering, limescale can be removed by applying a paste of citric acid and gently wiping the surface with a plastic-free sponge.
For heavier deposits, the curtain can be immersed in a bucket filled with a diluted solution of citric acid and water. After treatment, rinse thoroughly with clear water.
