Artists (whose use their talent to help animals!)

art for the animals

Art For the Animals was founded by an artist who offers gorgeous images of animal friends, with profits going to animal welfare. How good is that?

Some artists are not only super-talented. But use their gifts to campaign for other species. Sometimes inspiring pictures are more powerful than a thousands words.

Casanova is a charming sheep, a ‘Valais Blacknose’ who are often called the cutest sheep, due to their black faces and curly tails. He lives at a sheep sanctuary that gets support from art sold at her website.

Her first collection is ‘The Herd’, inspired by a trip to a retreat, where she stayed at one of the lodges. Volunteering to help this lovely bunch of animal friends led her to create a business that helped more animals on a wider scale.

Let’s support such a wonderful cause. Brighten up your home or office. And the success can help both animals, and the artist’s fledgling business, to create more collections!

Most happy images are of animals rescued by The Retreat Animal Rescue, but did not have such a good start in life. This sanctuary campaigned to rescue the calf that was rammed by a police car to a sanctuary, but was returned to the farm when found.

And if your budget doesn’t stretch to an art print, invest in a gorgeous bookmark (again, all profits help the sanctuary).

You can support the Kent retreat by purchasing the founder’s book, stopping by at the café, staying at the same lodge the artist stayed at. Or treat yourself to something lovely at the thrift shop!

Evie the cow was just a couple of hours old, when found on top a rubbish pile. Now she’s as happy as an (enormous!) puppy. One horn had to be removed, so she’s a ‘happy cow unicorn’, and no longer has a tag number, but a name!

Panda grew up with his sisters, after arriving as a calf. He is now nearly 4 (almost unheard of in the dairy industry, as most males are shot dead soon after birth). This ‘gentle giant’ is very friendly and loves playing in the fields with his friends.

Princess is a gorgeous Jersey cow whose life ironically was saved, when it was found she was infertile. At least spared the sadness of being separated from a calf, she is now ‘foster mum’ to several calves, and is also best friends with a goat!

Elvis the pig was born on a slaughter truck where he and his mother and others were being taken to the abattoir. He fell off the moving lorry, which became his chance of life, although he never knew his mother.

Sylvia the calf had such a bad eye infection that she was rejected by the farmer considering her for veal. Thankfully she survived and now enjoys a home with fellow friends.

Chantal Kaufmann (a Swiss artist who helps animals)

Chantal Kaufmann is an artist from Zurich, Switzerland. Who uses her astonishing artistic talent to help animals of all kinds. She hopes these pictures end up with a more peaceful world for all beings.

She is especially courageous, as she has actually followed the journeys of some animals to abattoirs, and then makes paintings from photographs. Above is the cow that famously escaped an abattoir truck in Europe. She painted Tilda from photos of the campaign, then later visited her at her new sanctuary home, where she will live in peace for the rest of her life.

Often focusing on barnyard friends that are eaten in the food industry, Chantal also paints other species including orangutans. And with that gorgeous red hair of hers, perhaps they know that she is their protective big sister!

You can purchase art from her Etsy shop and this helps her to have the freedom to support organisations that use her art to help animals worldwide. The range includes zero waste grocery totes.
