Crafted with care, it contains just four ingredients, with a recipe inspired by the founder’s mum! It’s tough on stains but gentle on skin, but free from harsh chemicals and synthetic detergents.
It’s also plastic-free and biodegradable, so ideal to help marine friends, when it washes down sinks and drains.
Choose high temperatures for babies, pet bedding and low immunity. If laundering synthetic fibres, use a microfiber filter, to stop microplastics leaching from machines, into the sea. For hand-washing, use a sink filter.
Avoid essential oils for pregnancy/nursing and near babies/pets. If buying other items in the range, citrus oils in particular are toxic to pets (even if rinsed and dried, residue could be licked from paws). For these homes, just launder with non-scented biodegradable laundry liquid.
All this laundry powder contains is:
- Coconut oil (to naturally clean and soften)
- Sodium carbonate (washing soda, to boost cleaning and soften water)
- Sodium percarbonate (a chlorine-free alternative to bleach, with lifts stains using the powder of oxygen)
- Sodium gluconate (a salt that prevents residue)
This laundry powder works in all kinds of water (hard or soft, just adjust the amounts). To use:
- Add 1 tablespoon to the washing machine drum
- Dissolve in warm water, before washing by hand.

Natural Oxygen Bleach
This is a natural alternative to bleach, made from just one biodegradable ingredient. It can brighten fabrics and lift tough stains like blood and wine, and also eliminate odours. Septic tank safe.
Made solely from sodium percarbonate. To use:
- Add one tablespoon to your washing machine (along with laundry powder to brighten and refresh clothing.
- To remove stains, dissolve one tablespoon in hot water, and soak garments for one to six hours. Then wash as normal.
- To deodorise toilets (and drains), dissolve one tablespoon in hot water and pour down. Leave to sit for a while, then flush. Any leftovers just biodegrade back to the earth with no harm done (unlike chlorine).
Bette’s Stain Bar
This is made just with coconut oil, and packed in paper (like the laundry powder and oxygen bleach). It can lift tough stains like grease and old, while being gentle on fabrics and skin.
- To use on clothing stains, just wet the stain and rub the bar directly on, then massage gently. Rinse and add to your wash cycle.
- To use around the home, lather the bar with a damp cloth or sponge – then use it to clean dishes, surfaces, sinks or even brushes. Rinse with warm water and you’re done!
If you have conventional laundry products that you no longer wish to use, don’t pour them down drains. You can recycle empty containers, take half-empty ones to hazardous waste (at the council landfill).
