Scary Crocodiles (but they’re important for nature)

Crocodiles may look scary, but they (and alligators) are important for nature. So please never buy any shoes or handbags made from crocodile leather. There are far better vegan alternatives around.
Although crocodiles have the strongest bite of any creature, they are not greedy and only eat when they have to (they even little plover birds peck the bits of food from their teeth, as natural toothbrushes).
These prehistoric predators have been around for over 200 million years, and are excellent mothers, caring for their young better than some humans.
Large saltwater crocodiles can slow their heart to just 2 to 3 beats per minute, staying submerged in water for up to an hour, and despite looking ferocious, they carry hatchlings in their mouths to water.
Because they can’t sweat, crocodiles open their mouths to ‘gap’ to release heat, they are not waiting always to eat you. They also swallow stones to help grind up food in their stomachs. The Florida Everglades is the only place on earth where they co-exist with alligators.
Alligators Are Very Different
Alligators have a much wider snout and hidden lower teeth, and are less aggressive. They also prefer freshwater environments due to no salt glands on their tongues, and they have darker skin.
The Stunning Green Colours of Nature
Nature is full of vibrant colours, and none represents life more than green. From the fresh leaves and trees to thriving forests and meadows. Green represents spring and renewal, and our connection to the earth. Plants use chlorophyll to turn sunlight into energy, which is why fresh grass and leaves are green.
Then at autumn when this pigment disappears, leaves turn brown and orange. From pine forests to moss-covered wetlands, green life is everywhere. Wetlands are also filled with green reeds sand aquatic ecosystems.
Many creatures are green, and other creatures live on greens. And some green creatures live on greens! The green world is both home and pantry, showing how deeply interconnected our world is.
Green foods like spinach, kale, and broccoli are packed with health benefits, thanks in part to their pigments. Rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, these green wonders contribute to a balanced diet, promoting heart health, reducing inflammation, and supporting overall wellness.
It’s no wonder we’re encouraged to eat our greens. Or this Spinach & blueberry breakfast smoothie (Short Girl, Tall Order). Check medication before consuming lots of leafy greens.
