What is the Gospel of John?

The Gospel of John is the fourth book of the New Testament, historically attributed to John the Apostle, one of the original twelve disciples of Jesus. Likely written in modern-day Turkey near the end of the first century, it focuses heavily on parables and Jesus’ ministry.

It’s best known for containing the most well-known verse of the Bible from John 3:16:

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
