Help Build a Sussex Animal Rescue Centre

Nestled away near the West Sussex town of Horsham is Holbrook Animal Rescue, one of England’s only kennel-free animal rescue centres. For over 30 years, dedicated volunteers have rescued and found homes for many creatures, from dogs to horses.

But it has been in the news recently, after the local council refused planning permission to move to new premises, which it needs to do, due to a large housing development being built.

Holbrook’s campaign to rebuild our rescue is asking for everyone to get on board, to help raise the funds for them to find and hopefully buy new premises as soon as possible.

The target of £100K may sound ambitious, but with small pooled donations and ideas, it could easily be reached. Every little helps!

  • Set up the shelter as your cause at easyfundraising (anytime you spend with participating shops like Amazon or Argos, it receives a portion of the sale).
  • You can set up an account at Charities Aid Foundation, if you prefer to give anonymously. Be sure to add Gift Aid if you’re a UK taxpayer.
  • If you play lotteries, switch to their Giving lottery, which costs less than others, as more chance of winning (and animals always win).

It hopes to use this ‘negative’ to turn into a ‘positive’ by creating a new centre with a dedicated vet room and quarantine room, and a ‘meet and greet’ room’ for potential adopters.

Sign the Change petition to urge the local Horsham council to get on board to help with planning permission, so the animals have a new home to go to.

Also read how to easily help dog shelters in Eastern Europe, where volunteers do incredible work, and can easily be helped by small pooled donations. And ‘free clicks’ at Animal Web Action, where sponsors pay for bulk delivery of food, hay and blankets. Again these shelters could easily be helped, by combined free and low-cost action.
