Feeling Glum? Introducing you to the Climate Party!

If you are feeling aghast at all the political parties that are not taking climate change seriously and want something fresh, meet Climate Party. This is a new political party with a commitment to net zero in 2030 (not 2050 like most parties want), while also restoring Britain’s nature and protecting our waterways from pollution.

Fringe parties may seem to have no influence, but we are not moving into (finally) a multi-party system. The Conservatives look like they are finished, Labour is warring among itself (and the decent MPs like Andy Burnham are being blasted out by a party that has thrown away its majority next election by dumb decisions).

We are seriously looking at possibly a coalition of centre-left parties at the next election (including SNP and Plaid Cmyru) to keep Reform UK out. So fringe parties now have power!

The Party to Restore Nature

Not so obsessed with Green Deals and wind turbines like many other parties, this one has a goal of restoring most of our forests, wetlands and coastal habitats to restore biodiversity, and also support local economies.

It also has ambitious plans on wildlife conservation and ‘urban greening’ with public parks, walkable communities and urban landscape design.

It also wants to plant 1 billion trees to help restore brownfield sites and create flourishing new connected ecosystems like hedgerows (endangered hedgehogs would no doubt for this party, if they could place a prickly paw in the voting box!)

How Is It Different from The Green Party?

It’s different from Greens in that it has no ‘far-left’ other policies, and is more concerned with gaining centre-left and centre-right voters who care about the planet.

The founders say that they aim ‘not to take votes away from Greens’, but be a centre alternative to people who would never vote Green (too far left) but still care about the planet.

This way you could get MPs in those towns, and together in a coalition government they could work together (instead of shouting at each other like toddlers because they disagree, like at present).

Stop throwing your toys out of the pram, and do your job. Brian Cox, Scientist (to politicians)

Who Founded the Climate Party?

Leader Ed Gemmell is a lawyer and ex-army officer and entrepreneur who is also a Buckinghamshire councillor (the only one in England elected on purely climate policies).
