Reasons to Choose Biodegradable Dog Poop Bags

Planet Underdog

There are 900 million dogs on earth who combined do over 2 billion poops a day! Picking up poop is responsible as left outside it can harm children, dogs and wildlife (and even cause blindness, especially dried out ‘white poo’).

So switch to compostable poop bags (these are better than biodegradable ones which is a bit greenwash, as most things biodegrade over several months). Obviously don’t compost dog poop, but it should break down in industrial compost heaps, at council depots. These are also sold in plastic-free packaging.

The only caveat is that they should be stored in a cool dry place away from sunlight, to stop them biodegrading away!

Planet Underdog (London) create fully compostable bags (not just biodegradable which can take years to break down). Wrapped around paper card rolls, these are big enough for the scariest poops!

The Green Poop Bag are unscented and strong (made from sugar and cornstarch) and also opaque with a smart print, handy ties, carry handles and easy-to-remove stickers. Sold in cardboard.

Tuff Pets makes super-tuff compostable dog poop bags, extra-thick with tie handles. Sold with a handy dispenser, to keep your hands free when on dog walks.

Councils can invest in better dog poop stations, which include free biodegradable poop bags, in case people forget. This costs less than sending out council workers to clean up poop afterwards.

Pooch Paper (with doo-doo resistant coating)

Pooch Paper

Pooch Paper (US) is a great idea. Made with grease-resistant paper, this ensures your doggie’s doodie remains inside paper, and not on your hand! Each box of 20 sheets can be enclosed in a zipped canvas bag, and there’s also a pooch paper dispensing station for for councils, parks, tenant buildings and animal shelters.

Light Public Parks with Dog Poop!

Park Spark Project (US) is a great idea, to encourage people to pick up the poop. People literally throw the poop inside, use a hand crank and this produces energy to light the park!
