What started out as a small hobby site is now morphing into something much bigger, and am struggling to cope! But to keep the site ‘small and sweet’ may be a disservice, as it has a wealth of helpful information to benefit the planet, animals (and people too!).
Although not personally ambitious, the site now needs a second pair of hands to take over the stuff I can’t: my talent is writing and posting pretty pictures to educate and inspire behind the scenes.
But now need someone on board (for 50% share and profits of the company once earning – at least 10% of this goes to small animal welfare causes).
It’s really important that it is someone trustworthy with good ethics and a passion for the site’s premise, without that – not interested, sorry! Most information is for free, but there is also a need to earn an income, in order to not have to go out and get a ‘proper job’ that is boring and doesn’t do good for the planet!
If you have ‘the right kind of brain’, the job description below is likely pretty easy for you to oversee, and should not take up too much of your time. But for me, it would take eons and eons – I would be a skeleton by the time worked out these jobs! And now it’s too time-consuming as traffic is taking off, and that means more emails to answer, and more posts to keep edited for accuracy.
Job description:
- Oversee the ‘behind the scenes’ of the site: SEO, meta tags, social media (there are beautiful CANVA templates to match for Pinterest) and using CANVA to edit them into traffic-building shares.
- Answer emails and phone calls, and be able to say ‘no’ sometimes (I can’t!) Also oversee and amend/cancel/join affiliate programs and manage discount codes etc.
- Create a business account (and charity-giving account) and oversee both these and Paypal (some affiliates only use this) and basically, keep honest records and oversee the financial aspect.
- General partnership ‘brainstorming’ on how to take the site forward. Two heads are better than one!
That’s really about it, although it would require a few hours a week of work. If you like (and have writing experience and talent), you are quite welcome to get involved in the editing of old posts (and write a few new ones).
SEO advice has said that ‘long-tail keywords’ are needed, which means that a lot of the ‘mammoth posts’ have to be divided to get found by search engines. But this means that they are much shorter, so need to be made longer in order to index. SEO is very complicated!
Also another reason for wanting someone on board, is that this site has been a real labour of love. And none of us are here for eternity. And in case the worst happened, don’t want the site to go ‘boom’ into space, but be left as a legacy of love for the planet and all creatures.

To be fair, I am very private and prefer to work alone. But this site is now too overwhelming to cope with doing a good job on my own. And it could suffer in quality due to being overwhelmed and tired.
