Animal Web Action (just click to raise money for shelters!)

Red and Howling

Animal Web Action is a wonderful site that was set up in 2013. It’s based in France, and it works in a very unique way, so let’s explain. Instead of asking for money, it basically supplies kibble, bedding and other utilities for some of the poorest animal shelters on earth, a lot in Eastern Europe.

It has a team that visits these shelters to verify they are genuinely desperately in need of help. Then it launches a campaign. Basically people click every 4 hours (sometimes if you have roaming VPN or airplane modes, you may be able to click more).

It’s totally free, and if there is a big enough campaign say on social media, the campaign (which is timed) gets funded, through sponsors who pay for the items needed.

Recently, Paws in Our Hearts (a Bosnian dog rescue in desperate need of funds) managed to fund kibble at a time, when they were literally at risk of the dogs starving. Thanks to the campaign, they now have kibble and hay for the kennels (and some money for medicine) all thanks mainly to people clicking a site (each click buys one gram of food).

Please Donate Small Amounts Too

As the campaigns get nearer to the date, often people are concerned that the campaign won’t win. And due to French laws, they can’t extend it (it would be fraud apparently). And because they are paying for shipments of items (not money), they can’t do anything if the campaign fails, so it unfortunately receives nothing, and has to start again.

It seems a bit unfair, but they can’t ship a few bags of kibble or hay, as it’s done en-masse for emergency situations.

So the way around this to get the campaigns over the line (and some are very small say for one sick kitten), is to donate on top. You can choose from a small donation of 5 Euros right up to the thousands of Euros needed for big campaigns.

You then immediately see the numbers go up. And this gives everyone else an incentive to start clicking more, and pooling small donations, to get nearer to the very end of the campaign.

Often shelters on their last legs find months of free food and hay, to save animal lives, many of whom are old and sick. It’s a good idea, so please get involved. As even if you don’t donate, all you have to do is press a button to click, and it could rescue a shelter from being financially dire.
