William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was arguably our greatest-ever playwright. A wealthy man (he was also a property developer), but he was quite left-wing and would be appalled if alive today, on how the vulnerable people in society are treated. As his closest relatives all died with no remaining children, he has no direct descendents. Due to his home in Stratford-upon-Avon, the town is now the second-most-visited tourist place in England, after London.

Shakespeare's first folio

Shakespeare’s First Folio is a beautifully illustrated hardback gift book, containing all 36 of William Shakespeare’s plays. Ideal for children or adults alike, the book is published in association with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, to celebrate the 400th anniversity of the First Folio.

With luminous and detailed art by Emily Sutton, the plays preserve Shakespeare’s original dramatic language, but have been skilfully abridged by Dr Anjna Chouhan so they can be performed by a minimum of 8 children in under 20 minutes. This is the perfect accessible introduction to the Bard (in his own words) for a child. And also for those of us who know that we should really treasure Shakespeare’s plays, but find them a bit dry in normal books!

Feast your eyeballs on this bedazzling book, and start your children on a lifelong love of Shakespeare. The Times

a recycled greetings card with Shakespeare quote

recycled Shakespeare nature card

The greetings card industry is huge (and quite unique to use – French people for instance rarely send them). But most cards are made from virgin paper, leading to millions of trees chopped down (mostly for nothing other than a card that is then thrown away). Never sent plantable cards to homes with pets, as many have wildflowers which are toxic to pets.

This eco greetings card is a blend of three wonderful things! Firstly, it’s made from quality recycled card, so no trees are cut down. Secondly, it features a beautiful image of a sleeping fox. And lastly it contains a quote from Shakespeare on the beauty of nature. Blank with your own message, and sent with a green envelope.

One touch of nature makes the whole world kin. From Troilus and Cressida.
