Note to crypto-billionaires: you can’t ‘buy’ elections in England
In September 2026, one of the most silly events in political history happened. Two crypto-billionaires each donated £36 million each to Reform UK, in the hope that £72 million would give the party enough money to focus on becoming the next government.
Just think of all the good that money could have done for vulnerable people and animals. Presumably Nigel Farage is not going to donate some of this to Jaywick in his constituency, one of England’s most deprived areas that is desperate for some financial help.
At present there are still several pending legal cases over funding. Plus around 70% of voters are so terrified of them being in power (wildfires, climate change, ripping up planning laws for endangered bats etc) that people are voting tactically to stop them winning power.
The right-wing media are thinking that ‘lefties’ are scared. In fact, the complete opposite is true. This may well be one of the best-ever things to happen. Because it shows that two men (and a political party) are so materialistic, they literally think that campaigning in every constituency due to more funds, is going to change people’s minds.
In fact, it is likely to do the opposite. Just like Trump thinks that by giving every voter $5000 to win the mid-terms is realistic, two men think their personal wealth can decide who wins the election.
But all of them have forgotten one thing. We are England. Not Trumpland. We are patriotic – but in the right way. We don’t want people and wild horses dying in wildfires, we don’t want our bats and hedgehogs going extinct. We don’t want money influence to be at the forefront of politics.
This may well be the biggest political own goal of the century. Let’s watch and wait!
