Paperdent: Vegan Toothbrush Tablets
Paperdent toothbrush tablets (order from Germany) were created by two young men (one a dentist, handy if you’re making toothpaste!)
If you live with pets, avoid the dental floss, as it contains the sweetener xylitol (lethal to pets, if licked from around a mouth or sink – also found in gum and some baked goods).
These toothpaste tablets contain fluoride, so to avoid risk of swallowing, are only for children over 7.
One paper pack of toothpaste tabs replaces 2 plastic tubes of toothpaste. And no microplastics in sight (the whales and dolphins will thank you!) Sweetened with stevia, these are made with vegetable cellulose and natural mint, sold in compostable bags (each one contains 125 tablets, to last 2 months or so.
To use, just chew 1 tablet with your molars to create a ‘cream’, then wet your toothbrush and brush as usual. Spit out, rinse with water and you’re done! Ideally brush twice a day.|
Paperdent Interdental Brushes

The interdental brushes also replace the plastic handle with paper. The flexible brush head is made of stainless steel and castor oil filaments, ideal to clean the spaces between your teeth (or for people with bridges or braces). Identify the ISO size using the colour code on the paper handle. Again, sold in plastic-free packaging. 1 pack contains 16 brushes.
To use, do this in the evening before you brush your teeth. Insert the brush at a slight angle into each interdental space at the gum line, and move back and forth several times. Rinse the brush under the tap after each gap, and after cleaning, so plaque and food particles wash away.
Store the brush in a clean dry place, and replace when the bristles are worn or snap.
Paperdent Mouthwash (in a paper pack!)

Paperdent mouthwash does have a little plastic (easy to recycle with household waste). It offers 83% less than most brands, and offers 6-fold alcohol-free protection against bacteria, tooth decay, tartar, gum problems and plaque. In a minty flavour (or mild herb with chamomile and sage – avoid for pregnancy/nursing and check medication).
To use, rinse your mouth twice daily after brushing, with 20ml (for 30 seconds). Spit it out, do not swallow or rinse.
