Vegums is a brand of quality vegan supplements founded by two pharmacists, and also offers a children’s range in sustainable packaging. Most are the same as the adult supplements, children simply take a lower dose.
These look and taste like sweets, so keep away from younger children and pets. Always check with your GP before giving children supplements, if on medication or other supplements.
NHS website has good information for parents of vegan children, that is regularly reviewed to ensure it’s kept up-to-date with the latest research.
The range of Vegum supplements includes:
A to Z Multivitamin is for children age 3 to 11 (and for adults from 12 years, the dose is larger). The strawberry multivitamin is also available in a sugar-free version.
- Super Iron Gummies (for tired children) is also good for hair, skin and nails.
- Fish-Free Omega Gummies (for brain, vision and overall development), good for children with tired eyes, wobbly knees or silly brain – and hate the taste of fish!
- Wholefruit Probiotic (for good gut health for grumpy tummies)
- Wholefruit Vitamin C (citrus-flavoured for immunity boost) for tired children, or those who keep getting the sniffles.
Dr Vegan’s Kids Multi-vitamin
Dr Vegan’s Kids Protmulti (for ages 3 to 16) is another supplement of quality, containing 25 active nutrients, designed to protect against common nutrient gaps, it contains:
- Vitamins (for general health and immunity)
- B Vitamins (for mental health and concentration)
- Minerals (for bones, muscles and teeth)
- Iron (for energy)
- Antioxidants (for healthy hair, skin and nails)
- Live bacteria (for sensitive tummies)
The capsules are 1 to 3 a day, depending on age (from 3 years up). Best taken with food, the capsules can also be opened and sprinkled onto food or drink (not with heat, this can damage the probiotics). For the same reason, store away from heat and moisture (including radiators, kettles and steamy bathrooms). Ideally store in a frost-free fridge.
