battle green mint shampoo bar

Shampoo bars help to reduce plastic use. To use, simply lather in your hands and apply to your hair, or rub the bar direct into wet hair, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. Help bars last longer by keeping dry between use, ideally on a slatted soap dish or dry facecloth.

This mint shampoo bar is made with plant-based ingredients (no palm oil) and sold in zero waste packaging. It’s scented with real essential oils of mint and rosemary (good for hair growth). Formulated with olive and grapeseed oils (for moisture), it also contains coconut oil and vitamin E.

Avoid contact with eyes (if occurs, rinse well with warm water). Avoid essential oils for pregnancy/nursing and affected medical conditions, and keep away from young children and pets. Suitable only for children over 3. Never use ‘human’ soap/shampoos on pets  (different PH and  many bars use macadamia oil, unsafe near furry friends).

soap-free (vegan) shampoo & conditioner bars

kind2

KIND2 is a quality brand of shampoo & conditioner bars, made with vegan ingredients and no palm oil. Each bar lasts around 60 shampoos (or 80 uses for conditioner). Sold in cardboard packaging (printed locally and fulfilled by a North London company that offers employment/training to people with learning disabilities).

This brand was founded by an Australian businesswoman who came to live in London. After her husband returned from a sailing race across the Pacific Ocean with ‘tales of seeing more plastic than fish’, she gave up her job to focus on making plastic-free haircare ‘the new normal’.

So what makes these shampoo bars different? They are soap-free. Most shampoo bars are just soap, which means they end up making your hair dry and sticky, which is why many people give up with them. These shampoo bars have the perfect PH for your scalp and are made with nourishing oils, and you don’t need to ‘wait for your hair to adjust’ to experience lush locks. They don’t fade colour and even work in hard water (for very hard water, the company recommends their Rebalancing Bar).

To make these bars last longer, don’t store them in the shower, instead use a soap tin with drip tray. Kind2 also offers a (one-time purchase more expensive) enamel coated soap dish with holes for easy draining & cleaning). The bars are ideal for travel as there are no spills, and they are not affected by new liquid restrictions at airports. The range includes:

  1. Hydrating has a woody floral aroma
  2. Rebalancing has rosemary, mint & upcycled charcoal
  3. Sensitive has fullers earth, chia seed & camellia oils
  4. Conditioners are available in woody/floral or unscented
