From Lithuania with love: Amour linen bedding

Amour Linen is a brand of beautiful and comfortable sustainable bedlinen from Lithuania, a hugely forested country in Eastern Europe, which is one of the main growing areas for linen, a comfortable fabric from the flax plant.
It is not only more local than cotton, but also uses far less water to grow. And gets better with age!
The range is extensive (just click the ‘bedding’ and ‘sheets’ menu in the left hand side of the shop. Choose from various styles and colours. It is more economical to buy whole bedding sets together, rather than separate sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases.
Organic bedding is free from fire-retardant chemicals, so (as with everyone): avoid smoking, candles, overloading plugs (don’t leave phones or laptops on beds) and avoid convector heaters.
Safe sleeping for babies
- Never use cot bumpers, and avoid pillows (some say up to age two).
- Lullaby Trust has info on sleeping for babies (avoid overheating with clothes, hats or blankets etc – read more on safe nurseries).
- One lightweight blanket doubled over counts as two (this could increase overheating). Air trapped between layers increases warmth.
- The trust recommends indoor temperatures between 16°C and 20°C. Check a baby’s temperature on the chest or back.
