Homemade Apple Pie or Crumble (with vegan custard!)

The Veg Space

Homemade apple pie or crumble is about traditional as it gets for an English pudding. Serve these recipes with vegan cream, ice-cream or custard. Use local organic apples if you can (most apples in supermarkets are not local, and are sprayed with shellac – insects – to make them waxy).

But of course, these days we have plant-based options that are kind to animals, avoid factory-farming and palm oil, and are cholesterol-free. Still retaining traditions, but with compassion!

Keep fresh dough away from young children and pets. Keep dried fruits and nutmeg away from pets too.

This vegan apple crumble (The Veg Space) is big, so eat up with in a few days in the fridge, or you can freeze  the leftovers before cooking and then defrost before baking. Made with half-and-half cooking and eating apples, with apple juice on top for a truly appley-dessert!
