Jane Austen Every Day of the Year is a beautifully illustrated gift book, to celebrate one of England’s most beloved writers. This charming collection of quotes and short passages drawn from her novels, also includes excerpts from her witty letters, scattered throughout.

Who was Jane Austen?

Although her roots were in Winchester (Hampshire), Jane Austen spent a good deal of her time in the city of Bath, where two of her novels were set. The daughter of a vicar, she was born 250 years ago. And despite writing romantic novels (and receiving marriage proposals), she never married herself.

More than 200 years after her death, the novels of Jane Austen are just as popular. Even though she only wrote six of them. Known for their romance and sharp humour, her books were also a fascinating glimps into high society back in the day.

Born in Steventon (Hampshire), Jane was one of eight children in a very close family. She was just 41 when she died from disease. She was however able to write to her heart’s content, as her wealthy brother gifted her a house, where she lived rent-free.
