How to help England’s sandpiper birds
Sandpipers are coastal birds known for their three-note call. They have a ‘bobbing’ movement, moving up and down as they teeter along to look for food, chicks begin to ‘bob’ almost soon as they hatch!
Always keep you (and dogs) away from coastal birds (chicks are often hidden in sand dunes) and keep to designated footpaths and take litter home. Report injured birds to local wildlife rescue.
Pirri pirri burrs can stick to clothing and dog fur, so clean shoes to avoid accidentally spreading seeds. Burrs can choke chicks so remove and bin if you find a few, and call authorities for larger amounts (for expert removal, don’t try to remove burrs from chicks yourself).
Keep boats at least 150m away from nesting/resting birds (including shingle islands and spits) and turn off your engine.
Why choose recycled paper notebooks?
Traditional notebooks are made with virgin paper, which means fast-growing trees are planted to be chopped down. Which does not support native wildlife, nor reduce climate emissions (unlike slow-growing old growth trees).

You can rip out the pages and recycle as normal. You have to bin any glued spines. You can recycle metal binding in normal recycling.
