EcoSlurps bamboo toothbrushes (different colour handles)

Ecoslurps toothbrushes

Ecoslurps Bamboo Toothbrushes are sold in packs with medium strength charcoal bristles and easy-to-hold handles (each handle in the pack is a different colour for family members).

Dentists tell us to change our  toothbrush every three months, so by choosing one with a biodegradable handle, this helps to prevent the billions of disposable toothbrush handles ending up in landfills each year.

To avoid animal hair, the bristles are nylon. Every three months, just remove them with pliers and bin, then compost or bin the handle.

Avoid essential oils for pregnancy/nursing. Avoid dental care sweetened with xylitol (lethal to pets – if you chew gum which often contains it, use a gum drop bin to avoid littering). Do not compost floss, as it would tangle (essential oils can harm compost creatures).

Where to recycle old plastic toothbrushes

Boots and Superdrug have beauty packaging recycling boxes. Communities can also order a one-off box from Terracycle, to recycle all dental waste (toothbrushes and heads, floss containers, interdental brushes, plastic toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes). When full, just send off in the prepaid envelope to be recycled into industrial items.
