Your guide to farmers’ markets across London city

Proper tomatoes that taste of tomatoes!
London Farmers’ Market is the site to visit, if you would like to find independent farmers’ markets in the city of London. There is a huge hub of local growers who either grow in the city or just outside, bring fresh local and seasonal organic produce to your grocery tote!
People often think of cities as urban places. But actually they are less likely to be ‘food deserts’, with little more than a NISA supermarket selling frozen pizza and chips. Here you’ll find all kinds of fresh produce to enjoy.
You won’t find olives or tropical fruits at these markets. But you will find giant cauliflower, runner beans and juicy heirloom tomatoes! All from friendly farmers who can tell you how the produce grew, and even suggest simple recipes.
Farmers’ markets also means that the farmers who took so much time and effort to grow the food, retain most of the profits. Instead of having to sell at a pittance to big supermarkets. Especially if the produce is ‘wonky’ (no problems, just make soup!) Some also sell freshly baked bread.
If buying plants or flowers, ensure they are safe for pet-friendly gardens. For indoor plants avoid facing to outside gardens, to help stop birds flying into glass windows.
Keep veg boxes away from pets (due to mushrooms, onion, garlic etc). Bin acidic scraps (peppers, onion/shallots, garlic, leeks, chives, tomato, citrus, rhubarb) to avoid harm to compost creatures.
Some veg boxes also sell groceries. Before recycling tins, rinse/remove lids (pop ring-pulls back over holes). Step on upper cans to pinch rims together, so wildlife don’t get trapped at landfill.
Farmers need a government license (and liability insurance) to sell to the public. Read more on food hygiene rules.
