Pentire Coastal Spritz: A No-Alcohol Aperitif

Pentire Coastal Spritz is a wonderful no-alcohol aperitif from Cornwall, made with coastal botanicals and sold in sustainable packaging. To compare, the drink tastes closest to a campari or aperol (a blood orange Italian aperitif). It’s made with blood orange, sea rosemary and oakwood, to create the perfect balance of bitter flavours, and refreshing coastal tones.

The drink is sweetened with agave syrup, a honey-like alternative from a plant related to cactus (so check first if you have diabetes).

How to serve Pentire coastal spritz

To serve, pour into a wine full of ice, and add 50ml with 150ml light soda or tonic water. Garnish with a wedge of orange and/or a bay leaf. Once opened, keep the bottles in a cool dry place and use within 8 weeks.

Like tonic water, this contains quinine so avoid for pregnancy/nursing and medical conditions that can’t use it. Keep citrus fruit garnishes away from pets.

Are these drinks truly no alcohol?

Nothing can be called zero alcohol, as even fruit and bread have tiny amounts. But 0.5% is the ‘no-alcohol’ label, and these drinks qualify. You could never get drunk on them (as your body would process the tiny alcohol in them before they could take effect). But to be really strict, some say pregnant/nursing women, drivers and alcoholics should avoid them.
