Round Our Way (stories of how climate change affects communities)

Round Our Way is a very interesting, unique and important site. It shares stories on how climate change is impacting communities, something that the climate-denying political parties could not deny. Rather than talk about ‘net zero’, the way to get the message across is more through local true anecdotal stories and evidence.

For instance, climate change is not just causing ice caps to melt in Greenland, but it can cause:

  • Floods and droughts
  • Heatwaves that kill
  • Train delays
  • Risks to pregnant women
  • Failing crop harvests

The site has an interesting post on how dog guardians are concerned at rising temperatures, as it makes it difficult to take dogs out for walks, and some dogs are at risk of heatstroke. Read more on keeping pets safe in warmer weather.

There is post on the rising cost of sunscreen (never use human sunscreen on pets, and wash off skin before letting pets kiss you, due to zinc oxide – same for deodorants or cosmetics, or cocoa butter in skin creams).

The more real-life stories get out on the impact of climate change, the more can be done to help change policies, and take the issue seriously. We don’t create change from the top down, but rather from the bottom-up, from stories in real communities.

You can share stories on the website, to help them advance this cause of change  through stories from ordinary people being affected by policies made at the top.
