Rejuce sparkling juice (giving wonky fruit a second chance)

rejuce

REJUCE is a London drinks brand that produces tasty carbonated juices, made from wonky (yet still edible) fruit and veg, to stop it going to landfill. Chef Tom had worked for 10 years seeing food needlessly being thrown away, so decided to study more about food waste, and find solutions.

The cold-pressed juices are sold in glass bottles, and the carbonated juices are sold in cans.

The range of juices includes:

  • Berry (a refreshing summer drink). Each saves 30 berries.
  • Apple (a refreshing drink that’s ideal with dips, chips and veggie pakoras). Each can saves 4 apples.
  • Orange (sweet and tart fruits). Each can saves 4 oranges.

Don’t leave empty cans around (this attracts ants, bees and wasps). To recycle, rinse then pop ring-pulls back over holes. Then step on upper cans to pinch rims together (to stop wildlife getting trapped).

REJUCE’s founder has big ambitions, hoping this juice is soon stocked nationwide (it’s presently sold in hundreds of retailers). With plans to launch a cider, and even a toilet paper made from juice pulp!

From wonky to wonderful

The idea is simple: fruit shouldn’t be judged by its appearance.

Much of the produce grown by farmers is perfectly good to eat, even when it doesn’t look like the picture-perfect fruit we see on supermarket shelves. Rejuce celebrates these imperfections by giving them a new purpose.

Instead of being left behind, surplus and wonky fruit can become part of a refreshing sparkling drink. It’s a small change with a bigger message: food doesn’t need to look perfect to be worth enjoying.

And, of course, sustainability doesn’t mean compromising on taste. Rejuce combines fruity flavour with refreshing bubbles to create a drink that feels just as enjoyable as any other sparkling refreshment.
