A Zero Waste Plant-Based Vegetable Brush

plant-based vegetable brush

This zero waste plant-based vegetable brush is ideal to get veggies clean like scrubbing soil from organic carrots and potatoes. It’s important to do this even for organic produce, ideally alongside a good fruit and veggie wash.

The brush features two types of bristles: soft Tampico fibres and tough Union fibres for thorough and effective cleaning:

Tampico fibre is from the leaf ribs of two agave species of succulents, native to Mexico. It has good elasticity and water absorption.

Union is a blend of tampico and bassine (a stiff coarse fibre from the leaf ribs of Palmyra palm, native to India and Sri Lanka). This is not the same as palm oil trees, these are sustainable.

The beechwood handle is oiled and attached to the bristles for a plastic-free way to clean your fresh produce. Made fairly in Germany, and sold without packaging.

AT end of life, you can remoe the bristles with pliers or scissors and bin or compost, and the beechwood can be upcycled, cut up or used for kindling or recycled into woodchips or mulch.
