Cook Good, Do Good: Switch to Zero-Waste Recipe Journals

eco friendly recipe journal

Good Tuesday recipe journals are ideal for stacking favourite recipes from magazines. Not only are they beautifully designed in Cornwall, but all are made with recycled paper, have lots of inner features (like cooking conversions and ‘build your own index’ pages, but are sent in plastic-free packaging.

Before cooking, read up on food safety for people and pets (many foods are unsafe near animal friends). Bin allium scraps (onion, leeks, garlic, shallots, chives) and citrus/tomato/rhubarb scraps, as acids could harm compost creatures. It’s okay to put them in food waste bins (made into biogas).

Before recycling cans, rinse then remove lids (pop ring-pulls over holes). Then use your fingers/thumb to ‘pinch’ inner rims together, to avoid wildlife getting trapped.

Choosing recycled paper is better than FSC-certified paper, as that still requires fast-growing trees with pesticides (instead these products ‘close the loop’ and use up unwanted waste that would otherwise end up at landfill, emitting methane gas).
