A Guide to South East England, Naturally
South East England is a large region, home to many inland Wealden villages, a few large towns. But mostly home to a long stretch of coastline that looks out to France (from Sussex and Kent, you can even see the French coast on a clear day).
It’s pretty sunny in these parts. Even if there is a heavy shower, the pavement tends to be dry by afternoon. And West Sussex is officially the sunniest county in England.
The inland Wealden villages are home to beautiful countryside (including the South Downs National Park). And there are also some mighty interesting places: from the smuggling history of bohemian Hastings to the gorgeous but very hilly town of Rye (right next to a wildlife marshland for birds, and nearby Camber Sands dunes).
Kent is known as ‘the garden of England’, with its beautiful oast houses and orchards, you won’t go short of finding some good fruit juice or cider here!
And of course, the southeast is home to the capital city of London. Officially a city forest (it has more trees than people!). And it’s surrounded by beautiful ‘home counties’ like Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, all with lots more trees and village ponds!
