A Guide to the Midlands, Naturally

The Midlands is a large area of England, far more than the vibrant cities it’s known for! The West Midlands of course has Birmingham and Wolverhampton and the East Midlands has more cities like Nottingham (nearby Sherwood Forest) and England’s smallest city of Derby.
But go beyond these urban places to find some of England’s most beautiful countryside. Northamptonshire is the county of ‘squires and spires’ due to its churches and stately homes. Shropshire is a stunning county that borders Wales (not many people). And Leicestershire is steeped in history, birthplace of our ancient English language!
From the stunning East coast to pretty inland villages (Rutland is England’s smallest county). You’ll also find market towns and lovely counties that are so small you could almost miss them. Herefordshire is one, but take a peek to find a lovely catehdral city, and lots of orchards and cider.
Welcome to The Midlands!
